Abigail Williams is a symphonic black metal band from Phoenix, Arizona. They are quite similar to Dimmu Borgir and Cradle of Filth.
This is Into the Ashes from their debut album "In the Shadow of a Thousand Suns"
Dig the sound but not sure about the vocals. Sounds a little too strained, like someone his choking him while he sings, haha. I've heard so much about AW but never bothered checking them out before this song. I am a big fan of (early-mid) Cradle of Filth and this sounds quite different in some ways; more of their own sound imo. I'll probably "acquire" the album soon enough though.
I mostly just listen to it for the music the singer doesn't really matter to me.

Is this the case for all of the music you enjoy, or just Abigail Williams?

Well....... to a lesser extent I suppose. If I like the music and they have a terrible singer I can endure it usually for the music. In this case I don't mind the singer, he's not my favorite but I think he's okay

. While there are times when I just can't listen to a band because of their singer, Led Zeppelin being a prime example.
Oh fuck no you didn't. Me and you, we're gonna have a straight up fist-fight one day. Mark my words.

Over what my good man?

The Godliness of Robert Plant! I shall defend his honor like a noble knight over his fine-haired princess. And that in no way shape or form could be misconstrued as gay!
Robert Plant probably has my least favorite voice ever. Everyone is always like OMG LED ZEPPLEINZ I LOVE THEM, and I will admit they are a good band but his vocals ruin it.
For me, the lyrics come close to ruining most songs. It's always "Baby baby, sexual innuendo, sexual innuendo, lord of the rings reference, baby". His vocals were extremely passionate, but definitely not everyone's cup of tea.

My example is Kreator and I mean it seriously.
If we're giving examples, I have to say Muse. I actually used to really dig them but then one day I realized that Matt Bellamy does this annoying, sharp inhale thing every time he starts a new verse and he does it EVERY FUCKING TIME WITHOUT FAIL. I think the only song I haven't heard him do it in was "Supermassive Black Hole". That shit just turned me off totally from the band, which kinda sucks.
Matt showed me a couple songs.
'Twas enough to turn me off of the band. Sorry bud.

Just can't appreciate tr00 gr1m kvlt black metal

I like it. More along the lines of COF but COF is the band that got me into BM so I have a special place in my frostbitten heart for bands of their ilk.
Ysee I dove into BM headfirst with Nagelfar, Darkthrone, and Deathspell Omega so glossy, overproduced, pseudo-sympho-BM bands like this just sorta irritate me tbh.
I can tolerate some Dimmu, and A COUPLE COF songs (some of the shit from the first album is cool), but that's about it.
I prefer OMG GLOSSY OVERPRODUCED PSEUDO-SYMPHO-BM to CLUNKY UNDER PRODUCED STATICKY BM
Eh. I'm not a big fan. Hardly surprising, though, considering I don't like Dimmu Borgir and I really only liked a few songs off of COF's debut.
