All I can say is:

FUCKING SWEET.

Zakk, aside from maybe Angus Young, is my least favorite guitarist putting out music right now... I might buy Ozzy's new album now. Grin
Never was a big Zakk fan either. Or Angus. I think my least favorite guitarist is definitely in Avenged Sevenfold, I just can't pick which is it.

And I wasn't aware Ozzy still legitimately had a solo band. Maybe they'll add someone new to revitalize his career.
I was hoping he would have tryouts. Fuck that though he's already got someone. Ah well. Would have been nice to see someone new up there.

I wasn't aware that he already hired a new guitarist. Who is it?
Gus G of Firewind apparently.
Yeah, he's really good. I love Zakk but he's waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better in his own band then in Ozzys.
How can you guys hate Zakk Wylde? I know the usual response is "He's never done anything original, he just plays fast." In all fairness, after Jimi Hendrix and Slash have been and gone, its pretty hard to do anything fresh on the 6 string.
I like BLS cos they're just a decent rock and roll band.
P.S. I hate Synyster Gates and Zacky Vengeance of A7X cos they're eyeliner wearing poofs.

@bold: WTF. Seriously.

I've enjoyed some of Zakk's stuff. He utilizes pentatonics a lot from what I can tell. I can't say I'm a fan though since I never went out and listened to full length albums.

As for A7X they can play pretty tight from what I've heard of theirs so I cannot fault their musicianship based on their looks. Looks and how well you play don't support each other. That's a rather poserish take on things.
I have also listened to a few Avenged Sevenfold albums and I agree that they're musical ability is respectable but, the image of a band is also important. The image of a band is 50% of the whole package, bands like Gwar and Marilyn Manson would never have gotten as far without their aesthetic gimmick. You may be different but I believe that Metrosexuals should be limited to Pop music, and metal should be for the others who don't follow the flock.

Again, no slight against their music, I just think what A7X represents doesn't belong in Metal.
Actually, imo, Jimi was just the beginning. Before him guitarists weren't anything special but with his advent, guitarists started to put more effort into training their chops.
(I have no opinion on Zakk, there's other stuff I'd rather get into)

Also, metal is not the only genre for "non-sheep" individuals. There's plenty of music out there that deviates from the mainstream. You just gotta look for it.
I've always seen a band's image and gimmick as a way to just to reel people in. Music should come first and foremost though. If people just ride by image and gimmicks as the main appeal, it's no different than those bad pop images that have come and gone. Right-minded people don't categorize a band in genres by the way they look or hate on them for that matter. Some metal fans are fans largely because of the music alone, others for the image, others yet for the feeling of family, etc. In a way some fans are following a flock, just that it's not the 'mainstream' kind. But if a band changes their image but still retain their philosophy and musical styling then I don't see much reason to stop following them. It's not like metrosexual or mainstream images have not been part of metal at all. There's glam metal which had mainstream success/notoriety and there have been bands that are/were in that boat but are still reputable (eg. Pantera, Twisted Sister, etc.). Also, I see metal as all inclusive regardless of whether you follow the flock or not. It's music.

EDIT: What does A7X represent? I don't know about their lyrical content or much about what their image means. XD
Oh here's a pet peeve of mine. I hate it when people are like "Oh we don't have a genre cause we don't want to be categorized". Yes you do have a genre, it might be a mish-mash of multiple different stuff but there is a genre for it. I don't care if it's progressive post-core or whatever but there is a genre you can fit into, even if you have to make a new genre denomination for it.

Having said that, an example that infuriates me is Krallice. Their albums get a bad rep since it's not like most traditional BM, and thus it gets a low rating. Yes, it's not like most BM but that doesn't warrant it getting a low fucking score if the music is good. Same with Metallica and other bands that have been charged with "selling out". Yes, they may have deviated from what they started as but if the music is okay, then what's the problem. I still find Load/ReLoad and onward an okay listening experience.
Some people don't like being categorized 'cause some genres are seen as crap or largely so. They don't want to take on that weight. Especially for bands starting out. Which sort of correlates to being heard by a larger set of people from all spectrums.

Also, yeah I know what you mean by Krallice. :/ But it is understandable since people need a reference point to compare although it doesn't make it justified. I think Krallice pretty much stand on their own right now, so perhaps in a few years more people will come to recognize that.

Woops, I kinda misread that one, my bad!
But my point about it still stands.

Yeah, I can see how some people wouldn't want to be categorized but I still see it as very meh. People should be more open-minded when it comes to genres.
Zakk needs to learn not to put a lightning fast solo in every song he does. For an example, see Pride & Glory
Zakk's not nearly my favorite guitarist, but man you guys really seem to hate him. I think he's just fine in BLS, haven't really heard any of his Ozzy stuff.
Last Ozzy album actually wasn't too bad guys.

Less guitar SQUEEEEEEALLLING every 3 seconds anyways.
On that note I love guitar squeals/screams. Feedback is awesome.
I like em too. My beef with Zakk is that he overuses them, or at least he did in the Ozzy band. Erk Having to hear them at the end of every riff repetition just gets really tiresome.

HAHAHAHA...oh wait, you're serious. Erk

Perhaps if he could go an entire song without abusing artificial harmonics, his songs might be more tolerable. But, as it stands, his guitar playing is about as pleasing as listening to a cat being beaten in a burlap bag.
