Sabbat is a really cool English thrash band that I discovered a few weeks ago when a buddy lent me Dreamweaver. They disbanded in 1991, but reformed back in 2006. I'm not sure if a new release is in the works.

Interesting fact: the well-known producer Andy Sneap is also one of Sabbat's guitarists.

Again, I find myself agreeing with one your choices of cool thrash bands. I discovered Sabbat a long time ago AND haven't listened to them in a long time, too. Smile twins, I don't know which issue of Dreamweaver your buddy had lent you, but just be informed that Sabbat re-released their first two albums (History of a Time to Come and Dreamweaver) in 2007. I bought both of them---and they are excellent because of the superior remastered sound, bonus tracks (including live ones) and just the lay-out and packaging are really pleasing.

I still prefer their debut album, History of a Time to Come, though Dreamweaver is darn good, as well. I remember finding a lot of their lyrics a bit annoying and tacky. But that never got in the way of my enjoying their overall interesting and impressive playing and individual songs. Their third release Mourning Has Broken ('91), apparently got a lot of negative reveiws from fans and critics. I haven't heard anything off that record, though. I have no idea if Sabbat are currently even together or plan to release anything new in the near future.

*For the black metal fans here, there is a reputed Japanese bm band also called....Sabbat
He has the remastered version of Dreamweaver and the original of History of a Time to Come. I actually just heard the debut yesterday. I think I still prefer Dreamweaver, but both are really solid albums. Haven't heard Mourning Has Broken yet.

According to Wikipedia, Sabbat has reformed, although there are no plans for any releases or tours AFAIK.
Yeah a good band. It took me a while to get around to them. I think I first heard History around the time that they initially broke up. That 1st one is still my favorite overall.

They seem to have reformed solely for the benefit of Euro festivals.

Andy Sneap has forged quite a career as a producer in the last 10+ years. He's helmed the mixing boards for Testament, Exodus, Opeth, Megadeth, Napalm, Cathedral, Obituary, Kreator, Cradle, and a lot of shit bands.
Bump for awesomeness.

The Clerical Conspiracy is probably their best song.
Pretty damn sweet!
I think this'll be on the top of my list once I start feeling thrashy again.
I generally like my thrash more riff driven than this, but they're pretty good... one part in The Clerical Conspiracy sounded almost like the music that plays in A New Hope when Luke watches the two suns set Pacman
