Bolt Thrower is a British death metal band formed in 1986. Their first album, In Battle There Is No Law, has some grindcore and crust punk influences. After that, they played pretty straightforward, very heavy death metal. You can't really go wrong with any of their music, but my favorite release is The IVth Crusade.
Any other fans?

I've been a long time fan, no question. Bolt Thrower have been a remarkably consistent band, in terms of the quantity of high 'quality' studio releases, all these years. I've known and read about some fans, though, complaining about the general 'boring' 'sameness' of their sound and style throughout all their albums, but frankly, I never grew tired of either their distinct sound or indeed their trademark lyrical themes of warfare and destruction. I've only got to watch them LIVE, just once...and I'll remember that for all time. BT always brought such a ton-heavy, crushing heaviness and punishing atmosphere to their sound, plus a classy 'grooviness' that makes their songs a really addictive, enjoyable listen. It's just that I only often wished that a lof of their guitar leads and solos wouldn't sound so melodic but more aggressive, 'atonal' even.
My personal all-time Bolt Thrower favourites have always been Warmaster, Realms of Chaos and For Victory. Yea, IVth Crusade is a great record too, though I gotta tell you how I felt rather pissed and let-down by the closing, corny history recitation at the end. That was so silly and unnecessary.
twins, if you've heard it, what did you think of their last disc, Those Once Loyal? I think TOL is a solid, cool farewell to the fans, and arguably a bit better than albums like Mercenary and Honour, Valour, Pride. Also, I wonder if your copy of their debut, In Battle There Is No Law sounds slightly shitty in terms of production with that grainy, weak sound that mars my enjoyment of those otherwise cool grind tunes.
Anybody interested in British extreme music definitely ought to give under-rated legends like Bolt Thrower a serious visit. (Disclosure: I'd still rank Napalm Death as my all-time favourite (and the greatest) British band EVER.

I don't own Those Once Loyal and I've only heard it once, so I can't give a well-formed opinion on it. My first impression when I heard it that one time, though, was very good.
I didn't like In Battle There Is No Law much at all. The production was bad, like you said, and even the music itself didn't really click with me. I'm just not that big of a fan of grind.
Yea, I'd say Those Once Loyal is a pretty strong swansong for this mighty band and a fitting farewell to us long-time fans, now that Bolt Thrower have made an official, final announcement of their 'retirement' as a band.
Haha, I've always been mad about quality grindcore, and I've often wondered (and wished) that Bolt Thrower had retained much more of their original grind sound in all their latter albums, throughout their career. Alright, maybe you wouldn't be much of a fan then, but then you'd never know. In Battle There Is No Law was ruined by the shockingly awful production that, sadly, did zero justice to some rather cool grind songs to be found on that overlooked, forgotten debut record. I had always wished they had re-recorded and re-released that album. Funny, how just two nights ago, I was listening to the fantastic For Victory.....and then I see your thread today.
I know that Realm of Chaos was remastered and reissued in 2005. Too bad they haven't done the same with In Battle There Is No Law.
Bump. Seriously, guys, listen to Bolt Thrower.
Just downloaded The IVth Crusade entirely on accident.

I will listen to it probably tomorrow.
Fantastic band, but I HATE Realm of Chaos.

Look on the bright side. It's just like you said

There you go. The internet will save Matt from Trivium.

That's hilarious.
Matt: Hmm...Trivium? That sounds interesting!
Computer: NO! YOU WILL NOT LISTEN TO THAT FAGGOTRY! TRY SOME REAL DEATH METAL!
Lol I like trivium. Who cares? AM I NOT METAL ANYMORE? Also Bolt Thrower is awesome.
