I just realized that we have no thread for the metal gods, which is clearly unacceptable, despite what faggots like Matt would say. Pacman

I don't really have to put any background information here; everybody knows JP.

Stained Class is easily the best album of the 70s by anyone other than Black Sabbath or Pink Floyd, IMO. Sad Wings of Destiny certainly pulls its weight, too. Oh, and you can't forget Painkiller, unquestionably their heaviest and fastest album.
I got Painkiller since Butt and I think you too recommended it to me since I absolutely love Kill Em All which is also speed metal.

It's quite cheezy but I like it.
Will also get Sad Wings of Destiny once I got all the rest of this shit outta the way.
Oh well, I gotta say that there's only one band that I've slammed more often than Judas Priest, i.e Iron Maiden. Wink LOL. I honestly never could love either of these two and still regard them as two of THE most (among very many others, including The Beatles) 'over-rated' bands in rock/metal history.

The only Priest I ever even moderately enjoyed were the early-era records, Sad Wings of Destiny-Stained Class-Sin After Sin. I recently checked out what I had missed out earlier on, the British Steel album. It's pretty good, I reckon. This quartet is a decent bunch that I still won't mind listening to, today. I know how Priest has been greatly influential to latter-day metallers, but I find their litany of subsequent albums through the '80s upto the disastrously bad Nostradamus, to be mostly nauseating suck-fests.

^^ Aw, Deadnight, to my ears and eyes, that's hardly saying much at all. They are like seriously sucky Siamese twins, in a sense.Wink So, I, for one, couldn't care less which one of them is the greater or the lesser band between the two. Lol Lol But yea, maybe I like fewer Maiden songs than I do Priest's, and combined they'd neatly fit into a single 80-minute disc, for me. Smile
The only Priest I really ever got into was Hell Bent For Leather, Screaming & Defenders of the Faith. Aside from those albums, most times I felt that Priest were trying too hard to be edgy. The exceptions are tracks like Grinder, Dissident Aggressor, and a couple others.

Generally though they always came off to me as shallow and cartoonish..... ..especially Painkiller. That one was an abysmally bland & generic attempt at thrash, in the year that brought us classics like Seasons in the Abyss, Coma of Souls, Oppressing the Masses, & Rust in Peace. No comparison.

I was actually bummed when Halford dismantled his solo band for the reunion. I felt both Resurrection & Crucible were great in that they were reminiscent of those early 80's Priest albums, as well as a step forward for re-popularizing that style of Metal in the states.
Painkiller is so overrated, imo. Not that it's a horrible song but I personally prefer Turbo Lover, Freewheel Burning, Electric Eye and You've Got Another Thing Comin' better.

Screaming for Vengeance is an awesome album.
...maybe I came at a bad time but Priest is one of my all time favorite bands. Doesn't get much better guitar wise than the mighty Priest. My favorite albums from them are Screaming for Vengance, Sin After Sin, Defenders of the Faith and of course Painkiller. I could see where people don't like them and I respect ur guys opinions for not liking them.
Painkiller and Sad Wings are the only cohesive albums I can really enjoy.

I like selected songs from other albums.
You don't like Stained Class? It's arguably the best album of the 70s, and definitely one of Priest's best.

None of it was really memorable for me. Sad Wings was a better 70s album IMO... even Rocka Rolla stuck out at me more.

Also best 70s album = Sabotage. Pacman

Not even close.
Sabotage > Stained Class

True story.
Sabotage is one of Sabbath's weakest Ozzy-era efforts, tbh.
Sabotage is Sabbath's most progressive and intelligently written album. Erk

Still pretty boring though.

Doesn't make it good. Like Matt said, it's pretty boring.
Sabotage is the least boring Ozzy-era album. Erk

S/t or Master of Reality is the most boring. Sad
The S-T or MoR is most definitely not the most boring one.
And I will fight a man over it, if it'll have to come to that.
