Any Satyricon fans here? I recently got my hands on some more of their discography, and I like everything I've heard. I'm really enjoying their song "K.I.N.G." What are your favourite songs/albums by these guys?
I haven't listened to them too much but I like what I have heard. K.I.N.G. is an amazing song. They aren't very KVLT for a BM band though.
They're pretty norsecore but what I've heard has been alright.
I've heard 6/7 of their full-length studio discs and 2 of their EPs. I've heard wildly different opinions on Satyricon--depending on who you ask and more importantly what they have actually properly heard of the band's stuff. Seriously, Satyricon seem to me to be pretty all over the place, in a sense; ranging from the stand-out sublime to the strangely sucky.
My Satyricon favourites are still their first clutch of albums: Nemesis Divina, Dark Medieval Times and The Shadowthrone. Those three are excellent black metal. I found Rebel Extravaganza and Volcano to be rather awful, as were their EPs, but I sure enjoyed Now, Diabolical...I still haven't bought or heard their last one of 2008, The Age of Nero. I guess I must try that out, in the New Year. I've never seen them live, though, which is strange cos I had more than one chance of doing that, and I mostly like Satyricon a lot. Maybe, their co-bands on certain bills discouraged me from going.

I like a lot of their material. In terms of one song, I have heard some say Mother North is the Norwegian Black Metal Anthem. Maybe thats a bit pretentious to say. But I do think it's a full of elements that many bands to come would adopt for their own purposes. And I think it's pretty great.
They have stated themselves that their more recent work is sort of a throwback to more of their early influences such as Venom. I like that straightforwardness about the releases since Volcano. Yeah it's not as
Kvlt or chaotic as their earlier releases. But like a lot of bands, after so many songs doing that sort of thing, for some it gets a little tiring.
I haven't heard much of their earlier material yet. But I like most of what they've put out since Nemesis. Although Age of Nero hasn't really grabbed me all that much.
Napalm, you would have loved seeing them when I did. In April or May of 2004 it was Satyricon, Suffocation & Morbid Angel. Right after Souls To Deny came out. Not being a fan of M.A. I left after Suffo. And it was an incredibly great show.
Darn, go no further with the details on that, Warlock

...cos you gonna make me curse and cry with regret at missing out on something like that. Truth is, I don't remember even being properly aware, at the time, of that particular triple dm-bm whammy of Suffo-Satyricon-MA in '04. I love both Suffo and MA, and ditto Satyricon. Now, that's a three-way bill I'd pay top dollar to watch, anytime.

I've been listening to more Satyricon and tbh I only really like the first three at this point. As well as the song K.I.N.G. also, which is a pretty manly black'n'roll song but other than that, only the first three albums do anything for me. I find everything after to be sort of... bland.
