Amazing Technical Death Metal from France. One of my favorite bands, they do things a bit differently than everyone else. Very musical, very nice to listen to. I would highly recommend checking them out, even if you aren't a fan of the genre.

After reading and hearing some rave reviews of the band, I actually felt totally cheated when I first listened to Gorod and their much-praised 'Leading Vision' album. It's the kind of extremely lame, meh tech-melodic dm I particularly cannot stand. Gorod's gotta be one of those grossly (and briefly) over-rated acts that most fans forget in a hurry.
I find Gorod, by and large, to be (as it was very eloquently stated on UM) to be "ball-less wank".

I'm not a big fan, but they sure are very talented musicians.
I'm not opposed to music like this. The song thats linked here is pretty kick ass in my opinion. I checked for more song samples online, they are utilizing a lot of two part harmonies in place of some more traditional chord voicings which is interesting. I'm all for breaking tradition. In this instance I think it lacks just a little at times. They never really seem to revert to power chords. And rarely seem to even hit tonic notes in the scales they are employing. That might be what seems to turn off some people to them. They remind me in a way of a death metal version of Mahavishnu Orchestra though. Although M.O. use way more in terms of dynamics.
I think once Gorod refine their approach and evolve a little more they could be one of those bands that really rise above the pack and everyone looks at. Great musicianship though and not bad.
