Are there any Hatebreed fans here? I regard them very fondly as one of my biggest hardcore music heroes. Sick Of It All (SOIA) is probably my all-time favourite hardcore act, but Jamey Jasta and gang are right up there among my favourites.

Anyway, after their last swell effort, Supremacy, Hatebreed has just released their latest disc, this time an all-covers album called For the Lions where they superbly cover songs by Slayer, The Misfits, D.R.I, Black Flag, Suicidal Tendencies, The Dead Kennedys, etc etc...I've never been a big fan of 'covers' and would by far prefer any band to release all-original albums. But when somebody can pull off so many classic hardcore-punk songs with this much conviction and genuine coolness, you gotta hand it to 'em. I thought only Napalm Death made the most awesome covers ever...gosh, now Hatebreed too.

If any of you are even moderate fans of the band, I'd recommend For the Lions to you, in a heartbeat Smile
Hatebreed is really good. I have Supremacy, which is really good, and plan to get For the Lions sometime soon. What earlier albums of theirs, if any, do you recommend?
twins, great to see another hardcore/Hatebreed fan. Smile ...I actually have 'em all and love 'em all. BUT, since you have the excellent Supremacy, I reckon you're very likely to love the very strong and impressive disc, prior to that: The Rise of Brutality. It's a bit more traditional 'metal'-influenced than any of their other albums, but yeah, the songs really flow nicely and there's an added element of heaviness, structure and attitude to them, overall. It's probably my favourite Hatebreed studio album.

Other than that, if you really like the band, you can't go wrong with their early EP, Under the Knife, and the full-lengths, the cult classic Satisfaction is the End of Desire and Perseverance. And oh, you'd probably crazily love their amazing DVD, Live Dominance. It's one of the best I've watched in recent times.
Okay, cool. I'll get The Rise of Brutality next time I get the chance. I'll check out the other stuff, too.
