So... Metallica. Perhaps the most famous metal band ever... Overhyped, but if jesus had that kind of of PR, he would be too.
As far as their music goes, I really really like Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets. Can't stand AJFA, and I liked Death Magnetic a lot as well.
Also, anyone getting GHWT:Metallica?
Metallica died with Cliff.
Master of Puppets, AJFA and Ride the lightning are masterpieces though.
Final statement - Megadeth > Metallica
I must disagree there. Megadeth may have been more consistent over the course of their career... but they have NEVER put out an AJFA, RTL, or Puppets. Those three albums are fucking legendary.

Rust in Peace good sir. Also Youthanasia is really fucking good.
The aforementioned three > RIP
Metallica. The reason I am a metalhead today. AJFA is the absolute pinnacle of thrash.
Also, Megadeth's moment in the sun was a flash in the pail compared to the impact Metallica had. Although, Rust In Peace is just as good as anything Metallica did sans AJFA. My own little opinion there. "Hangar 18" rocks so fucking much. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much.
I don't think it was just a flash in the pail as you put it. Megadeth have been WWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYY more consistent then Metallica. Metallica really haven't made a good album since the black album and even that was kinda meh. The only album Megadeth have ever made that made me go

was Risk.
Consistency isn't the type of impact I'm talking about. Metallica transcended their scene and made metal more or less what it is today: a platform for 1,000,001 kids to try and launch themselves from. Megadeth definitely drove that point home, though, and I agree, did it with more consistency than Metallica.
Great band for a while there. Cliff is GOD! The first 3 albums are as close to perfect as you can get. And the 1st EP with Newstead was awesome too.
Never liked Justice though. I bought it the day it came out. Tried to get into it for a good 6 months. I took it to a used CD shop & sold it. Thats what I call Metal From Their Ass. Kirks leads suck on that album though. I think Cliff must have helped him the most. After Cliff was gone Kirk lost all his style.
Magnetic is an interesting change of styles from what they've been doing. But it's nothing I could ever listen to seriously. Maybe to compare to the old material. The new Nightmare video is fucking cool though. I like to watch it with the sound off. Alien Zombie Invasion!
I actually did watch their Hall Of Fame induction last month. It was sorta cool... until they started playing.
Robert is a Phenomenal Bass player though.

As an eternal Cliff fantard, I kinda agree but not 100% (and you had better not be dissing Cliff with that statement! :mad
I love the first 4 albums, after that it's pretty much just some songs
Should still complete my discography though... fucking procrastination..
I wasn't dissing Cliff at all I said once he died they stopped writing good music with the exception of ...And Justice for all of course.
Well, I can agree with you mostly on that one..
Although there are still some songs that I like from The Black Album and beyond
Ride the Lightning, MoP, and AJFA were all masterpieces, no denying that. Megadeth is obviously more consistent, but really only had two albums (Peace Sells and Rust in Peace) on the level of Metallica's three big ones.
Anyways, AJFA was my favorite Metallica album for a long time, but I have to say that I think Ride the Lightning is better now. Master of Puppets has always been very good but overrated.

Same here... but it's only really two or three songs here or there.
I could make a list of post-self-titled songs I like:
Until It Sleeps
Hero of the Day
Bleeding Me
The Memory Remains
The Unforgiven II
Low Man's Lyric
Turn the Page
Loverman
Astronomy
Whiskey In The Jar
Frantic
The Unnamed Feeling
The Day That Never Comes
That would make one hell of a compilation album.

Here's mine
Hero Of The Day
Bleeding Me
Mama Said
The Unforgiven II
Fuel
The Memory Remains
Die Die My Darling
Whiskey In The Jar
No Leaf Clover
I Disappear
Frantic
St Anger
And I guess that's it for now. I still need to fill up the gaps in the post-Black-Album era and get Death Magnetic
Also, @ the question in the end of the OP: No, I find GH kinda pointless...
Ill join in that game of post black album songs I like. I didn't include any Garage Inc songs though I like most of them.
Until It Sleeps
Hero of the Day
Bleeding Me
Ain't My Bitch
King Nothing
The House Jack Built
The Unforgiven II
Devil's Dance
Where the Wild Things Are
The Memory Remains
All Nightmare Long
The Day That Never Comes
My Apocalypse
Cyanide
The Unforgiven III
Broken, Beaten, and Scarred
That Was Just Your Life
I actually think Master of Puppets is overrated. While I love Battery, Master of Puppets, Sanitarium, and The Thing That Should Not Be, the rest of the album never really wowed me all that much. AJFA is by far the best though, though I tie Ride the Lightning and Kill 'em all second even though they are completely different in sound.
Disposable Heroes is their best song.
Here's my list.
Until it Sleeps
Fuel
The Unforgiven II
Frantic
St. Anger
All Nightmare Long
Lol so small..............that's what she said...........to The Butt.
^ dick
Also Justice is their best song.
Holier than Thou
Nothing Else Matters
Frantic
St. Anger
The Unnamed Feeling
Those are the Black Album-and-on songs that I like.
As for albums (don't remember if I stated it in here or not), KEA > AJFA > RTL/MOP
I sorta started liking MoP more thoroughly recently, same for RtL.
